When I first started “Worst Movie Ever” way back in 2007, I seriously didn’t know how long it could last. 10 episodes? 15? Heck, if I was really driven, maybe 30! Well, we’re just shy of 80 episodes now and I feel like it’s the right time to hang up the proverbial hat.

What’s that? You’re crying? Please don’t do that…seriously pull yourself together and grab a tissue. This isn’t a sad conclusion, but merely an appropriate ending to a wonderful, web-compressed, glorious ride. As Jennie and I too often say on the show, movies nowadays are just too darn long—and both of use feel that we should probably stop now before we head into the dreaded 3-hour runtime. It’s hard to explain, but it just feels “right” to stop. Considering the lazy release schedule lately, I’m sure that it’s not a huge surprise to discover that both of us have been extremely busy. And, I want to stop doing this show now before the whole process stops being fun.

The genesis of Worst Movie Ever was a relatively simply one. I love movies and I love talking about them. So, after seeing a few video podcasts on the net, I thought, “Hey, I could do that.” And, the rest—as they in textbooks—is history. I knew that I was incapable of carrying a show like this solo, and as a result, turned to the most talented person I know, my sister. Luckily, we happen to also be best friends. So, with that very simple beginning the “magic” (as I call it) started.

I don’t know if it’s obvious or not, but a lot has changed since Jennie I started doing the show. I’ve graduated college, entered the working world, started creating my own short movies, developed a newfound appreciation for Chipolte…big changes, people…big changes! But, as time moves forward, I think I want to start devoting my energy full time to other creative projects (ideally, my own original screenplays and movies). That way, in the future two different kids who love movies could start an internet podcast and brutally criticize and make fun of the stuff I create (in a perfect scenario, these kids would be named Jennifer and Evan)

It’s crazy to think that Worst Movie Ever has existed for over two years. That’s two whole years, gosh darn it! Perhaps I’m being hyper-congratulatory, but when it comes to the ephemeral nature of the internet that’s a frickin’ lifetime. So, right now, I’ll reserve the right to dust the dirt off my shoulder, thank you very much. I’m proud of this show and the hours of pseudo-entertainment I helped create. I’m thankful for all the support, and most importantly, I’m amazed about how much I learned both technically and about the art of cinema.

I honestly don’t know what the future holds. Perhaps one day, I’ll get that familiar podcasting itch and return to WME. Or, start another show with a different format, or…get picked up for syndication by a major network and live a life of luxury filled with cliché drug addiction and an ill-fated marriage to a Brazilian supermodel. (hey, it could happen). Seriously, folks, I’ll never close the lid on this baby forever. After all, you have no idea the insane demand for a short Jewish kid with a speech impediment to do web video. It’s crazy! *Ladies, call me*

So, in a strong attempt not to ramble, this message goes out to everybody….to all the little things that made this show great. To all the listeners. To all the inside the jokes. To the top five lists. To bad movies. To good movies. To David Anderson’s weekly commentary. To Lars and the Real Girl (God knows we talked about it enough). To Jurassic Park. To Clueless. To stolen cameras and bad green screen effects. To Jonathan Cooper’s devotion (and crazy inability to like the Big Lebowski). To Gymkata. To Jess T’s erudite and well thought out comments and messages. To JD’s awesome, Irish brogue filled voicemails. To Tyler M’s generosity. To that guy who sends me an e-mail every week just to tell me how much I suck (yes, I realize I look and talk funny. Deal with it). To everybody who has ever downloaded, listened, or viewed this podcast in any capacity. Thank you all.

I know that in the grand scheme of things WME is pretty small potatoes. They’re a lot of movie related podcasts that are both better produced and better organized. But, when it comes down to it, this little endeavor of ours was never meant to compete with the big boys. We were just two siblings who liked going to movies and wanted an outlet to talk about them. Simple as that. For some reason, if people were actually interested in watching us talk about those moves…well, that’s just gravy. In the end, this little show was important to me, and in some way, I hope that it was important to you. Sure, it’s hokey and eye-roll worthy, but as the word “amateur” implies, we truly did this for the love.

For the moment, I wish you all farewell. Of course, I’ll keep all the video and audio feeds live. You’re free to watch/listen to us at any time when you start feeling lonely. Also, be sure to e-mail me or leave me a voicemail message whenever. I want to keep an open dialogue of movie discussion going and I’d love to hear your opinions. Plus, I’ll try to post on this blog every now and then just to keep everybody updated on the world of the Kanders (or, if I see a really good movie).

Yes, ladies and gentlemen it may be sad, but it’s time to move on. If you ever really miss us, remember that regardless of what is happening in the real world and all the trials and tribulations that exist in life, there will always be the movies.

Doth your eyes decieve you? That’s right, ladies and germs, WME finally returns with a new episode this week. We just had to come out of our deep dark cave to talk about one of the most anticipated movies of the year (if not all time). It’s Watchmen folks…sit back, relax, and enjoy. Also, since Jennie’s been seeing movies like crazy, we also talk about Taken, Confessions of a Shopaholic, He’s Just Not that in to You, and Jenn’s favorite movie of last year (drumroll please) Gran Torino.

Also, on the movie news side of things, we discuss Sleepless in Seattle as a broadway musical and the new trailer for Michael Mann’s upcoming Public Enemies.

As a sidenote, sorry for the crappy, grainy visual quality. Until I get a new camera, it’s probably gonna be like this for a while.  Then again, it’s not like WME was ever known for it’s visual prowress.

Yeah…yeah…we’re late again with the episode. To be fair, I’ve been really busy with the “real” world. And, I’m shooting a short movie that’s dominating my time…

On this week’s episode, Jennie and I tackle (get it, tackle?) Darrin Aronofsky’s The Wrestler. Does it live up to all the hype? Or, does it fall flat on its face while attempting a reverse hammer-head-pile-driver (In case you’re wondering…I made that move up. ) And, what’s up with Mickey Rourke’s creepy fingernails? I’m serious…they freak me out.

In news, the Golden Globes are over and done with and Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire has emerged victorious. The Watchmen dispute between Fox and Warner Brothers has finally reached a settlement, so nerds everywhere can now rejoice. Also, Jackie Chan has been cast as a “Mr. Myagi” character in the upcoming remake of the Karate Kid starring Will Smith’s son Jayden.

Finally, based upon the request of our loyal listener Brandon, Jennie and I discuss the WORST MOVIE EVER. It’s Zombie Strippers. It stars Jenna Jameson and Freddy Krueger. And, no it’s not a porn (though it may just be as bad as one).

Happy New Year from Jennie and myself! We kick off 2009 by talking about what we know best—movies. On this episode, we countdown our Top Ten favorite movies of 2008. So, gear up for cliché end of the year critic snobbery.

Also on this episode, Jennie and I talk about David Fincher’s newest epic, The Curioius Case of Benjamin Button. Is it a masterpiece, or as some people are saying, just a lame a rehash of Forrest Gump? Watch to find out…

Wow…it only took 75 episodes, but Jennie and I have finally managed to shoot the worst one yet. Seriously, I can’t believe we made it this long…

Between giggles and bad green screen effects, I manage to discuss the new Ron Howard film Frost/Nixon. Also, Jennie and I choke our way through the newest Golden Globe nominations. Apart from Heath Ledger’s nomination, the Dark Knight sort of got f-ed.

Oh, because the 75th anniversary is the diamond anniversary (according to Jennie…Guys don’t know that kind of stuff…), we list our Top Five Movies about/having/relating to diamonds. Yeah, it’s sort of a stretch. Then again, so is spandex.
